Just keeps getting better and better.
V.0.4.0
Things I love: The new explosion sounds. The explosions sounds now make the game feel more visceral. The only thing that could make them better is if you added sounds of metal on metal when you fly though an explosion. We always fly through explosions in flight combat sims but real life fighter pilots know that potential lethal for their planes I think you should implement it.
Thing I loved the most: The perfection you made of the aircraft reticle. It now tracks properly and is very realistic. And now actually shows you where the aircraft is projected to fly so if you crash into a mountain or graze the ground its your own fault. Love it, I feel like its made my fly with much more confidence.
Another thing I noticed was that you added a low altitude warning that is actually helpful. Too often is there this tiny little message on screen and a tiny little proximity indicator. The one you use is great. It actually warns me when Im about to kill myself.
More things I like, the 3 mission updates. I love them you, see the targets on the ground and you cant hit them until you knock out these defenses first. Thats great! It has a good flow to it that seems familiar and new at the same time. I think you should make Hard mode HARDER. Mercenary needs to have SAM sites ripple fire. Since in real life they can fire 6 missiles rapidly. AA sites need to never stop shooting at you. Let the tracers rounds scare the crap out of you.  And hell why not make low altitude flying come with greater risks ? Making the AA guns actually dangerous would be a good update. Oh another great thing. The 3rd wingman. We need to hear more of her, some of the banter back and forth was actually funny.

The things I dont like: The AI is good at evading but terrible at engaging. We need to see the AI try some gun kills.
More on the AI: mother ships seems to spiral to their deaths but dont die after you take out a wing. Since its technically only the AA guns that get damaged the should remain flyable until we take out an engine or a whole wing. If your intention is to take out a wing dont add that too the bosses please. We should need to hit every vital spot on those monsters to make them drop out the sky.
Last thing the models for the tanks seem to either keep driving on after they have been blown up. Either that or they have been launched into the air for miles hugging the ground either way seems a bit buggy.

honest rating for a fully developed game id say your at a solid 6 right now.For an alpha your at 9/10 best alpha Ive played. please keep it up.

I've tried v0.4, almost all settings are low, except effects and texture (because if those are low, the explosion effects will be squared lol), resolution 1024 x 768, and I've got around 16-24 FPS, unfortunately, there's still camera stuttering which pretty annoying (and it happened since Alpha 4 version).

This game should be optimized further, and running more smoothly, that's what I really hoped for.

Specs: Intel Core i3 4005U 1.7 GHz, RAM 8 GB, GPU Nvidia GT820M 2 GB.

(+1)

it's not the game it's your low specs

you're on a garbage laptop. How on earth could you possibly say the game needs more optimization when you're running it on a DUAL CORE laptop? Come on man.  For an alpha it's VERY optimized, allow me to provide some proof with all settings as high as they go..  Ryzen 1600 + Vega 56.

as I expected somebody would say my laptop is garbage, that's fine, I'm not a wealthy people too. And its CPU is not Dual Core, it's Quad Core, I've already checked it on dxdiag

And the way I see your specs has Ryzen, which is sound even too powerful to me, I don't have much money to afford new laptops you know, I just hoping the dev. Optimize the game so that lower specs could run it, that is all, if the things aren't going even well, it's ok.

Hey, just played the desert mission and LOVE it. it has been such a long time since a game has made me smile the moment I start playing:)

But a bug that might need fixing is how when you enter the final phase of the mission (Operation Blackout) and the two HVT Anuras show up, one of them embeds its wing into the ground and flies in a circle, never rising out of it making the mission un-beatible  think it can be rectified? sorry to bother ya if it has been fixed as of posting:(

Not unbeatable.... if you equip bombs the area of explosion actually reaches..... but yeah- not the intended method.

Love the new control GUI. I noticed the view X and view Y seem to be backward from the binding.\

Edit: After more testing the binding gets set correctly (hat moved left binds to x axis left) but the visual display shows the binding backwards (hat moved left shows x axis moved right).

I hope this game don't go to the obscurity.
the alpha demo is awesome, i really want to support the game and the devs

If someone stops developing this I'll be mad. SO DOPE! 10/10 Looking forwards to the full release! Amazing!

What planes are you planning to add? Please add a MiG-29 and a MiG-21.And are there plans for a co-op mod or multiplayer, or a campaign?

There's no "set" list of aircraft to add just yet. I'll add them as I go along depending if its appropriate for the game or not.

There are plans for a campaign, but multiplayer and co-op is not in our scopes right now.

honestly i'm really exited by the fact that you are still active and developing, for a while i thought the project might have been dead, but i can't wait to see what you make in the final version

Thanks for the response, looking forward to the full version, seems like a fantastic game for now

If multiplayer is a function of server cost, I'd happy subscribe for a few dollars a month. Alternatively, I'd be happy to pay a larger amount once.

AWESOME cloud! WONDERFU experience! As an ACECOMBAT fan, I was really touched! Now I really really really want to play it in VIVE!

AND because i'm Chinese, I hope to see the Chinese language in this game.

AND I hope you guys can think about adding J20 or J31 to the game.

Thank you guys for making such a great work! I have introduced this game to all my friends. I can't wait to buy it at steam!

If there is CO-OP mode or combat mode through LAN it would be excellent

First of all. masterful game, i was even testing speed just to see if there was a vapor cone in the sound barrier and i am glad i found it. but despite knowing that this is an early build i must ask for the f22, f35, su57 and the chengdu j20. i know the former will be eventually added but the j20 is the most important since i know that ace combat will never have a chinese aircraft (dont know why) and the only place where i can fly it is in bf4, not even fsx has a proper one

I want to play J20 and J10, too.

I love this game and will be backing it heavily when it hits KS. I'm currently using a XBox controller while my Saitek X52 Pro comes in the mail and I have the Right Stick mapped as view control. When I view from exterior the sensitivity is extremely high, making it near impossible to track targets, but when I view HUD only or in cockpit, the sensitivity seems normal, allowing for me to track targets well. Is this sensitivity change normal?

Hi guys, this is an amazing modern war simulator, i remember when i was young playing with Ace Combat on my PS2, so thank you for making this feeling come out again.

Can you add the support for Saitek X52 pro and more Joysticks as well?

And a great idea for this game will be to make a cooperative  campaing and multiplayer servers to play one to one with your private squad some like one to one, teams of two players and squad vs squad will be super interesting this one for competitive carreer.

THX guys again for make this possible!! you are awesome.

What's wrong with the X52 Pro? Mines currently in the mail to me!

in my case the game seems like don't detect the joystick controller only detects Playstation and Xbox controllers :( the game looks awesome by the way.

(1 edit)

mine works fine, you have to switch the mode to joystick though.

EDIT:

I should say mine works fine, but when relaunching the game I need to rebind the joystick. The old bindings show "Joystick X52..." but when rebound show "X52 PROFESSIONAL...".

Hey there, This is a known issue for some joysticks.

I'm happy to say that it will be fixed in the next build! Sorry for the inconvenience.

thx man for making this awesome job I’m waiting the next version with a lot of enthusiasm

Definitely a beautiful-looking game.

I simply fell in love!! Amazing game!

Add a survival (enemy waves) and a free flight mode (just plain flying and landing and taking off). and fix brightness when go fullscreen, somehow it gets darker

The default keyboard and mouse controls are fantastic. I didn't even look at the control mappings and the controls were exactly where I expected them to be, only took 30 seconds to get the hang of really. It's very rare that you find a flying game with GOOD keyboard and mouse controls. Of course using a gamepad is the way to play the game, if you don't have one, you're not missing out much by using keyboard and mouse controls. I was able to get machine gun kills easily enough.

It Was an amaing adventure' played for almost 4 hours, Great Job!

Looking forward too this

Wow .
Flabbergasted  , i did not expect this when downloading it.

Ive been a huge fan of flight sims and more arcade ace combat games and theres just no other way to say it  , This just has it.

With It i mean the thing i cant find in most games now , that feeling of getting drawn in by the gameplay from the start , forgetting what you were doing beforehand and well , just enjoying a game.

I can only hope the best for you and the game in the future ,

Thank you for this experience.

This game broke in a short time my expectations of its development, ignoring the graphic quality that presents (9.2 / 10), has a fluid gameplay, which only I have seen in 3 games of the same style. It is quite flexible in its configuration of keyboard, mouse, controller or joystick, the voice acting is a (10/10) that currently only sees very little in this kind of games.

Speaking of the enemy AI (7.8) has a good reaction to the actions of the user, I consider that later an AI layers to execute slightly more complex maneuvers would be the critical point that would impel this project to an immersive game.

Error: When I connect a Joystick ¨Trust GXT 555¨ the game does not start, simply showing a window that says "Unreal Engine has stopped working". When I turn on the game and with the same one already in the menu, I connect the Joystick the game stops and shows the same message.

Summary: The game is performed above the first expectations that many of the users have had, I am sure that they are aware of our support in the project thanks to its "Immersive" characteristics that it offers, I am excited to see the future of this game. You can see his commitment in it.

Keep up the go(o)d work! We are all looking forward to it!

Was free to add some other background music ;)

I absolutely LOVE this game! I truly hope it becomes the beautiful swan it was always meant to be, right up there with the big boys (AC)

Here's a gameplay video I made with hardware monitoring and my specs.

Keep up the FANTASTIC work rb-d2!

Sorry to bother you but this bug affects (on my system) every single alpha release, (now up to v. 0.3.5); referring to a previous bug report of mine (screenshots are the same, it changes only the build version number):

Played on Windows 7 with an HD3000 intel graphic card (1.5 GB Ram, DirectX11/OpenGL 3.3  compatible,  and driver version 9.17.10.4229), when the logo/splash screen game is first displayed a couple of error messages pop out and then game crashes.

At this link you can find some screenshots: Project_Wingman_BugReport

Thanks for your attention and your work.

I swear to god my bud. You are the best developer in the history. I literally can't believe that you made this game by yourself. I played so many arcade shooters and some serious flight sims. However, none of those games have satisfied me when I was finding game which makes me to feel like I'm in some sort of movie. I personally enjoyed heavy flights sims a lot(like DCS and X-plane) but I also love this game so much. I am extremely sad because I don't have any way to fund money in this project, but I'll keep my attention in future. Cheer up man you will make a gorgeous art when you finish this game properly.

p.s. I especially enjoyed the part where you let me to use freetrack in this game. AC:AH didn't allow me to and it was pretty damn frustrating since I only play in cockpit view

_

In the score, a MISS/SUCCESS missile rate is good . :)

In XBOX gamepad, I think the bottom trigger is best to accelerate. '-'

Великолепно,игре не хватает разнообразия но для Demo версии супер!

Maybe the trees are making the game runs slow?

(1 edit)

Man Oh man, this game is a dream come true. I now think this game is perfectly balanced as far as difficulty is concerned. When the SU 27s go in to spiral loops in hopes of evading oh man I just couldn't stop smiling. It was absolutely amazing! The weapons are going to need some more time. Especially the High Manuever Missiles. They will literally follow an enemy to 3+ minutes if they miss the first go around. Maybe dial that down to 1 minute lol. Optimization is wonderful my 970 is running it well on high. I do think that the post processing may be a bit extra. I'd probably say that is a bit on the extreme side, but it makes the game look just that much better. It is a bit hard to run that and record though on my 970 got me thinking of upgrading. I think a big thing missing now is actually a warning alarm for collision or at least a pull up proximity alert. I've crashed a few times now that its completely pitch black into a storm clouds.

That being said this game is perfect for VR. You need to make some strides into that front because of how easily I converted this game into VR. Your game is amazing and I'm certain if you just spent about a weeks worth of work you can code it for Steam VR.

I used TrinusPSVR it literally took me 10 minutes to configure to work with your game.

Project Wing Man In PlayStation VR

This game is excellent, and is far higher quality than I was expecting from something with an Alpha label. The visuals are fantastic, dynamic weather effects are great, and most importantly the gameplay itself feels really solid. Performance is also pretty good, running on maxed settings and usually hanging around 80 FPS. While recording it occasionally drops to 60, but never below that. (Specs below).

Difficulty is also spot on for the most part. The enemy AI is very well done IMO and dogfights on Hard difficulty are exciting and fun. Only really minor thing I would comment on is the tendency of one or two jets from a squadron leaving their group to chase you if you happen to pass a tiny bit too close while the rest continue to ignore you. It certainly doesn't hurt the gameplay at all, but I think immersion-wise it would be a plus if enemy formations worked with a tiny bit more cohesion (ex: if one plane in a formation detects you, all planes in that formation attack instead of just that one). Like I said though, that's REALLY minor and doesn't really count as a negative for me, just a thought I had.

The one outlier for difficulty for me is the two 'special' fighters at the end of Clear Skies. Facing one alone is pretty easy, even on Hard difficulty, but both at once is a pretty sharp spike in difficulty in comparison because of how aggressively they spam missiles. Even on Normal difficulty I've had times where a single wrong turn when trying to evade them has led to 3 or 4 missiles hitting me at once. They're definitely not unbeatable and I can regularly beat them in 2v1s now, but on my first couple of playthroughs it was like running into a brick wall compared to the rest of the enemies.

But, that's the only gripe I have with this game so far, aside from one time I played where the camera didn't centre properly at the end of a Chainlink mission. The rest of it is great, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with it in the future.

This is truly amazing i wouldn't come across this if I wasn't searching for Ace Combat 7 release dates. Bandai and Project Aces could put this as a demo of their game. For a game in Alpha stage it runs amazing considering I am running this on a older core2quad system but still with a mixture of High-Ultra settings it contains a nearly constant 60fps. High recommendation put on some classic Ace Combat tunes while you play this. I'm looking forward to the final release and I would like to help you translate this to my native language. One extra thing i think you should add a support for the controllers and gamepads that aren't popularly known brands I have a logitech dual action and I can't get it to work.

Specs:

CPU: core2quad q9450

RAM:8GB DDR2

GPU:RX560 2gb

HDD:120GB SSD

Hey there! Good to hear that your system runs well! Controllers and gamepads are supported by default, however if it doesn't have Xinput capability you will have to bind it manually in the options screen.

Hope that helps. Thanks!

Thanks for explaining it for me keep up the good work man.

Just played both levels and all I have to say is. Please sir I'd like some more.  This is right up there with Ace Combat 5 and Hawks.  The graphics where great, enjoyable game play,  good voice acting, all it needs is a good story and your good to go.  I cant wait to see the new planes the come out with the new release.

Thank you for your kind words!

Really impressed with the game, many congrats, outstanding work!

There are a couple of issues that I need to work so I appreciate if you guys could help me:

-I am using a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas one joystick and works fine but the amount of roll is way above what I am happy with so I wonder if the roll could somehow be diled down a bit?

-Is there a way to avoid the need binding the axis and buttons every time I want to play the game?

Many thanks!

Hey , Thank you for the kind words!

As for the issues:

1. Axis curves and deadzones will be implemented eventually.

2. This is a known issue with some machines. I can't seem to replicate it so if could you please send me an email (wingmangamedev@gmail.com). I'd like to troubleshoot this issue with you and hopefully find a solution for everyone who's having this issue.

Thanks!

Fucking great. I hope to see it on Steam aside Ace Combat 7 in the future.

Also, if you're looking for French translation, contact me. (yes, it was also me on Facebook)

My specs are
- OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bits
- Processor: Core I7-7700K
- Memory RAM: 16gb RAM DDR4
- Video Card: GTX 1080Ti
- HDDs: 254gb SSD (OS) + 1tb SSD + 2tb SSHD

Works fine with solid 120fps. Well optimized on my MSI laptop too.

Thanks for your awesome work, see you soon in the sky.

Awesome! I'll be in touch when it comes to that.

Amazingly satisfying to play!

Thanks for taking the time to record the game!

Woo beat Clear Skies on Hard with F/18 almost flawless only took 1 hit sadly two I/A got away final score was 10,500. Can't wait to see how hard Mercenary will be.  Haven't had any problems with the game so far, I can't wait to see more content and anxiously awaiting hopefully the return of the F14.

Thanks! Please look forward to it!

This is amazing.  With such incredible visuals, effects, and control customization you have an excellent chance to get to Steam.  However, I suggest that you add some sort of sensitivity bar (Unless I didn't see it and am being an idiot) because sometimes camera movement (Especially with a joystick) can be really jumpy and twitchy.  I should also add that the warning alarm (The one that goes like *beep* *beep* *beep* when you enter a stall) sometimes doesn't shut off when you pause the game and then that carried over to when you go to the main menu.

Hey there thanks for the feedback! Deadzones and Curves is on my to do list, so it will be implemented eventually. Noted on the bugreport. It will be fixed in the next mini-patch.

Fuck dude this is good you could totally make it to steam. it's fun as hell, cameras are a bit iffy but other than that its pretty much perfect. keep up the good work
